Do you want to know the secret to smashing goals?

It’s never a bad time to start setting goals for yourself and you don’t need to wait until New Years, next week or next month …


Whether you would like to set personal goals, professional goals, short-term goals, or long-term goals, I’m going to share with you my secrets to achieve them all!


But first, why are goals so important?

  • Goals help to provide us with direction, clarity, and focus

  • They provide us with the motivation to succeed

  • Goals help to identify what is most important to us, right now

  • Accomplishing goals improves our confidence and our self-esteem

  • Goals challenge us to achieve more out of life

  • Goals help us to remain accountable

So, whether you would like to save for that special holiday, buy your own home, run a marathon, plant a veggie garden, learn something new, begin a weight-loss journey or simply re-connect with old friends, here are ( 5 ) steps to get you started.


Step 1

Write down the goal you would like to achieve and WHY you would like to achieve it – your why will become your biggest motivation on the days you don’t feel like taking action.

Be very specific and realistic with your goal and always set a deadline, for example, instead of writing, I want to save for a holiday later in the year, your goal may be “I am going to save $2000.00 for a holiday to Bali in October … I will book this holiday by the 15th of September.”



Step 2

If you’re feeling creative, designing a vision board, and placing it in a prominent location is a great way to keep you focused and motivated! If you’re saving for that holiday to Bali, consider placing the board beside your bed so you are reminded every morning when you wake up and each evening before you go to sleep that you are going to Bali in October!


Step 3

Draw up a plan of action and the steps you will take to get there … Again, be specific with how you are going to reach your goal. This is also a good time to identify any obstacles that could prevent you from reaching your target and include a Plan B should this occur.


Step 4

Take action! Now is your time to shine and reach for your goal with both hands! The biggest secret to achieving any goal is to make small consistent steps every single day ~ even on your bad days. Having an accountability buddy at this stage, is a great way to help maintain your focus and keep you on track.


Step 5

Reward yourself! No matter how small or large your goal, recognize every single accomplishment, be proud of what you have achieved and treat yourself with something special ~ it may be a new dress, your favorite bottle of wine or a day to yourself.


Remember, no one is perfect … We all have our ups and downs … If you’ve had a rough day or a rough week, forgive yourself, be kind to yourself and make a promise that you will do better tomorrow!
